Overview

This website uses Google Analytics only if you consent to it. It does not use advertising tools or tracking pixels, and it has no contact form or newsletter. Personal data is only processed to the extent described below.

Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., San Francisco, USA. When you visit the website, the hosting provider automatically collects information in server log files that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, referrer URL, browser type and version, and operating system.

This data is processed to deliver the website securely and reliably, and to detect and prevent misuse. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and functioning website). A data processing agreement is in place with the provider. Transfers to the USA are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Google Analytics

If you consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) on your device and collects information about your use of the website, for example pages visited, time spent, approximate location (country and city), device and browser type, and the referring website. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses of users in the EU. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off.

Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Google processes the data on my behalf under a data processing agreement. Analytics data is retained for 2 months and then deleted.

The legal basis is your consent according to Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG. Google Analytics is not loaded until you click "Accept". You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via Cookie settings, which is also linked in the footer of every page. More information: Google Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts

This website uses fonts provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers to load the fonts, and your IP address is transmitted to Google. Data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a consistent presentation of the website). More information: Google Privacy Policy.

YouTube video

The homepage contains an interview hosted on YouTube, operated by Google Ireland Limited. The video is embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and is only loaded after you click on it. No connection to YouTube is made before that click.

Once you click, your IP address and other usage data are transmitted to YouTube, and YouTube may store cookies or similar technologies on your device. The legal basis is your consent by clicking, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. More information: Google Privacy Policy.

Booking a call

The "Book a Call" buttons link to an appointment booking page on Google Calendar. No data is transmitted to Google until you click the link. If you book an appointment, the details you enter (such as name, email and message) are processed by Google and by me to schedule and hold the call. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract).

Links to LinkedIn and other websites

This website links to LinkedIn and other external websites. These are plain links: no data is transmitted to these providers until you click them. Once you visit an external website, its operator's privacy policy applies.

Contact by email

If you contact me by email, I process your email address and the information you send to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or potential contract, and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR otherwise. I delete the data once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), to erasure (Art. 17), to restriction of processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. To exercise these rights, email [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for me is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.
